Orange County’s Great Park in Irvine has officially been selected as the U.S. Men’s National Team base camp for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to an announcement made March 10.
While the site is just south of Santa Ana, the economic ripple effects are expected to reach communities across central Orange County. Local businesses, hotels and restaurants could see increased traffic as teams, media and fans move through the region next year.
City leaders throughout the county have pointed to the selection as a major milestone leading up to the 2026 tournament.
Santa Ana Winds Ease After Blustery Start to Week
After several days of strong Santa Ana winds and unseasonably warm temperatures, conditions have begun to calm across Southern California.

The one-day event allows residents to apply for a new U.S. passport and have photos taken onsite. Officials say the program is designed to make the process easier for families and travelers who cannot visit during regular weekday hours.
