Six University of Kentucky researchers selected for federal Genesis Mission, including grid-resilience project
Six University of Kentucky researchers have been selected for the first cohort of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Genesis Mission, a national initiative that will use high-performance computing and secure artificial-intelligence systems for scientific discovery and infrastructure challenges.

What the UK-led project will study
The UK-led effort will develop a physically informed neural network focused on power-grid resilience to extreme wind events. A physically informed neural network is an artificial-intelligence approach designed to incorporate information about how a physical system behaves.
