Port St. Lucie is set to welcome a new Lowe’s store in the Southern Grove area. The 134,000-square-foot store, complete with a garden center, is slated to open in 2026. This addition is part of the Shoppes at Southern Grove development, which plans to include six additional outparcels with national retailers. The development aims to meet the needs of the city’s rapidly growing population.
City’s Rapid Growth and Development
Between April 2023 and April 2024, Port St. Lucie experienced significant growth, adding approximately 14,000 residents. Much of this expansion has occurred in the western part of the city, with developers also focusing on areas in unincorporated St. Lucie County. This growth underscores the city’s appeal and the ongoing demand for housing and services.
New Hospital Set to Open in 2025
In response to the population boom, a new hospital is scheduled to open in Port St. Lucie by mid-September 2025. The Florida Coast Medical Center, a 185,000-square-foot facility with 54 beds, will provide essential healthcare services to the community. Located at 310 SE Veranda Falls Way, near Florida’s Turnpike and Becker Road, this hospital will be the third of its kind in Port St. Lucie and the fourth in St. Lucie County.
Port St. Lucie SC Joins USL League One
Port St. Lucie has been awarded a United Soccer League (USL) League One franchise, with plans to field a men’s team in the 2027 season. The team will play its home games at the Walton & One Stadium, a 6,000-seat facility that is part of a broader mixed-use real estate development project by the Port St. Lucie City Council. This development aims to enhance the city’s sports and entertainment offerings.
