Housing Growth Projections, CRA Activity and Retail Expansion Lead PSL Updates

Port St. Lucie, FL – April 2, 2026 – New city housing projections, late-March redevelopment meetings and retail growth plans signal steady expansion.

Port St. Lucie continues to show signs of steady, managed growth as new housing data, redevelopment discussions and retail expansion plans move forward.

City Projects Strong Housing Growth

New city planning projections released in recent days show Port St. Lucie on track for consistent residential growth over the next decade. City data estimates single-family housing units will climb from just over 90,000 in 2025 to more than 110,000 by 2035, with multifamily units also steadily increasing.

The projections help guide infrastructure planning, school capacity, transportation improvements and long-range budgeting. Officials use the data to coordinate road expansions, utilities and park investments as neighborhoods continue expanding west of I-95 and around Tradition.

Community Redevelopment Agency Reviews Ongoing Projects

The Community Redevelopment Agency met March 23 at City Hall to review updates tied to the eastern City Center and U.S. 1 corridor. Discussions included redevelopment momentum around mixed-use projects, pedestrian connectivity and long-term tax increment financing tied to growth in the district.

City leaders continue focusing on revitalizing key commercial corridors while balancing traffic flow and neighborhood impacts.

Retail Expansion Still Generating Buzz

Momentum around large-scale retail development also remains strong. Plans for a potential Costco location in Port St. Lucie have continued progressing after the city signaled its intent to sell roughly 22 acres for the project. While final approvals are still pending, the proposal reflects broader economic development efforts aimed at expanding shopping and job opportunities locally.

As Port St. Lucie moves through spring, city officials are balancing housing growth, infrastructure planning and commercial investment — all central to maintaining services while preserving quality of life.
