Public safety: Arrest in Woodmere Drive shooting

A Greensboro man is being held on a $250,000 bond after an arrest tied to a shooting that injured a woman on Feb. 19. Police say the suspect was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, plus a firearm-by-felon charge and discharging a firearm within city limits. Booking records also show a parole violation pending.

City budget: Community sessions set across all districts

The city is rolling out a set of evening community budget sessions in March, billed as a chance to see how the annual budget is built and to weigh in on priorities before the plan is adopted later this spring.

March 5: Griffin Recreation Center (District 5)
March 10: Craft Recreation Center (District 2)
March 12: Gateway Gardens Event Center (District 1)
March 18: Greensboro Science Center SAIL Center Great Hall (District 3)
March 19: Lindley Recreation Center (District 4)

All sessions are scheduled to start at 6 p.m., and residents can attend any location regardless of district.

Election watch: Early voting continues ahead of March 3 primary

In-person early voting in Guilford County runs through Feb. 28 at 3 p.m., with the primary set for March 3. A local voter guide also notes that North Carolina’s registration deadline was Feb. 6, but same-day registration may still be available during early voting for eligible voters.

Common Greensboro-area early voting sites listed include the Old County Courthouse, Bur-Mil Park Clubhouse, and several recreation centers.
