North Las Vegas Daily Brief: Homicide Arrest, Apex Logistics Groundbreaking, Gaming Win Rises
North Las Vegas, NV – February 28, 2026 – Police made an arrest in a fatal Camino Al Norte shooting as Apex logistics construction starts and gaming rises.
Public safety: arrest in deadly shooting case
North Las Vegas police say a suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting that began as a weekend call and later became the city’s latest homicide investigation. Officers responded around 12:36 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, to the 4800 block of Camino Al Norte, where an adult man was found with gunshot wounds and taken to the hospital. Police said the victim died on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
Investigators identified 35-year-old Jesse Robinson III as a suspect and reported he was booked into the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center on an open murder charge with a deadly weapon. Detectives are still asking anyone with information to come forward.
Development: new industrial campus starts moving dirt at Apex
On the north end of the city, construction activity is picking up in the Apex industrial area. City officials announced that work is underway on the Apex Ridge Logistics Park, described as a roughly 90-acre industrial campus planned for about 1.36 million square feet of warehouse and distribution space across two buildings.
Project materials describe a 2027 completion target. For North Las Vegas, it’s another sign that Apex remains a major growth engine—bringing the promise of jobs and tax revenue, along with familiar questions about traffic, utilities, and infrastructure timing as the buildout continues.
Business: North Las Vegas casino win bucks the county trend
State gaming regulators reported Nevada’s January gaming win fell year over year, with Clark County also down. But North Las Vegas stood out with a gain: the city’s reported win rose 4.75% to about $25 million for January.
For locals, that’s a reminder that while the broader market can swing month to month, neighborhood casinos and local visitation patterns can tell a different story than the Strip headlines.
On the calendar: a local, low-cost weekend stop
If you’re looking to keep it simple this weekend, a low-cost produce market option has been scheduled at the Garden Farms Community Garden inside Craig Ranch Regional Park (with other valley events also listed). Check event details before heading out, as times and formats can change.
