1) Jobs & investment: Old Wisconsin expansion planned

Carl Buddig and Company says it plans to invest $125 million to expand its Old Wisconsin operation tied to Sheboygan, with a goal of adding about 75 jobs. The project includes renovating and equipping a recently acquired facility for updated manufacturing processes and additional production capacity.

The plan is being backed with up to $2.75 million in performance-based state tax credits, which are tied to job creation and investment targets.

2) Fire: Barn destroyed in the Town of Mosel

Deputies and firefighters responded Saturday afternoon to a barn fire on County Road Y in the Town of Mosel. Authorities said the barn was fully engulfed before crews arrived.

The barn and equipment inside were reported as a total loss, and three nearby vehicles sustained burn damage. No injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.

3) Community: Skate with a Cop draws families to the ice

The Sheboygan Police Department said its first Skate with a Cop event brought nearly 100 children and family members to the Sheboygan Lakers Ice Center. The goal: a low-pressure chance for residents and officers to meet, laugh, and share the rink.

Organizers called the inaugural event a success and signaled they’d like to make it an annual tradition.
