Baltimore gas rises to $4.48, diesel holds near $5.62 in metro watch
Baltimore metro regular gas climbed again on AAA’s May 7 check, while diesel barely moved, keeping fuel costs elevated for commuters and fleets.
AAA’s latest Baltimore metro fuel check shows regular gasoline climbing again while diesel barely budged. On May 7, regular averaged $4.482 a gallon, up 3.3 cents from yesterday and 27.9 cents from a week ago. Diesel averaged $5.617, down 0.5 cents from yesterday and essentially flat from a week ago.
The bigger short-term pain point is regular gas. Baltimore metro regular is up 32.3 cents from a month ago and 135.1 cents from a year ago. That hits daily commuters first, but it also shows up quickly for school runs, airport trips, weekend drives, and anyone who fills up often.
Diesel is still expensive, but the latest move is calmer. Baltimore metro diesel is down 34.1 cents from a month ago, even though it is still 201.6 cents above year-ago levels. For delivery drivers, contractors, landscapers, plumbers, shuttle operators, and small fleets, that means the baseline remains high even without a fresh spike this week.
Baltimore metro also remains slightly below the wider Maryland and U.S. averages. Maryland averages $4.489 for regular and $5.644 for diesel, while the national averages are $4.558 and $5.674. That is a small edge, not a major break, and it does not erase the recent run-up at the pump.
For residents and businesses, the split matters: regular gas affects more households right away, while diesel matters for the trucks and vans that keep local commerce moving. Restaurants, service businesses, and weekend travelers may want to watch for the next AAA check before filling up. If you are seeing especially high or low prices around Baltimore, what is the highest pump price you have spotted locally, and where is the cheapest fill-up right now?
