Cedar Rapids Fuel Check: Gas and Diesel Both Rise in AAA Update
Regular gasoline and diesel both moved higher in the latest AAA Cedar Rapids metro update, with diesel remaining about $1.33 per gallon above regular gas.
AAA lists Cedar Rapids metro regular gasoline at $3.847 per gallon and diesel at $5.178. The figures are shown as prices as of August 4, 2026.
Both fuel types are higher than the prior comparisons
AAAโs Cedar Rapids row lists regular gas at $3.841 the previous day and $3.740 a week earlier. That means the latest regular-gas average is up 0.6 cents from the previous day and 10.7 cents from a week earlier.
Diesel is also higher in the latest comparison. AAA lists diesel at $5.082 the previous day and $5.060 a week earlier, putting the current average up 9.6 cents day over day and 11.8 cents from a week earlier.
Local pump prices can differ
A station-level listing for Samโs Club at 2605 Blairs Ferry Road NE in Cedar Rapids showed regular gas at $3.78 per gallon, with the listing updated shortly before publication. That is an individual station snapshot, not a citywide or metro average.
Drivers may see different prices depending on the station, membership requirements, payment method and timing. Pump prices can change faster than a metro average, so commuters and weekend travelers should check nearby locations before filling up.
Why the difference matters
Higher regular-gas prices affect household and commuting budgets, while diesel costs matter especially for contractors, delivery operators, farmers, truck drivers and service businesses using heavier vehicles. Fuel expenses can also affect businesses that move supplies or rely on deliveries, including restaurants and other local operators.
