Thornton drivers are facing higher fuel costs after AAA’s July 30, 2026, Denver-metro price check showed increases in both regular gasoline and diesel.
The Denver-metro average for regular gasoline reached $4.144 per gallon, up from $4.021 on July 29. Diesel rose to $5.170 per gallon, compared with $5.050 the previous day.
Thornton station listing provides local pump context
Maverik’s page for the station at 250 E. 136th Avenue in Thornton currently lists regular gasoline at $4.149 per gallon and diesel at $5.099 per gallon. Those are prices at one station, not a citywide Thornton average. The page does not display a dated price-check time, and station prices can change during the day.
Drivers comparing prices across Thornton may see different totals depending on the station, payment method, fuel grade and any loyalty-program discount.
Prices are also higher than a month ago
AAA’s Denver-metro figures were higher than the comparable month-ago averages of $3.671 for regular gasoline and $4.299 for diesel. Regular gas was up 47.3 cents per gallon from the month-ago metro figure, while diesel was up 87.1 cents.
For a driver filling a 15-gallon tank, the difference between the latest metro regular-gas average and the month-ago figure is roughly $7.10 per fill-up. A 25-gallon diesel tank would cost about $21.78 more at the latest metro average than at the month-ago level.
What higher fuel costs can mean locally
Higher regular-gas prices can add pressure to household commuting budgets, weekend travel and regular errands. Diesel prices matter especially to delivery operators, contractors, landscapers, construction companies, service businesses and other employers that rely on trucks or equipment.
Fuel costs can also become one expense factor for restaurants and other businesses that receive regular deliveries. That does not mean every business will immediately change prices, but sustained increases can raise operating costs across transportation-dependent services.
