Anythink Nature Library scheduled to open Aug. 8 in Thornton

Anythink Libraries scheduled the opening of its new Anythink Nature Library in Thornton for Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026. The public grand-opening program is set for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 6811 E. 136th Avenue.

The 33,000-square-foot library sits on a 15-acre campus next to Thornton’s 140-acre Aylor Open Lands. Anythink describes the facility as combining traditional library services with indoor and outdoor nature experiences, giving residents a new library branch centered on nature education and exploration.

The opening-day program includes a nature trail, story times, cyanotype art, live birds of prey, performances and refreshments. An event listing also identifies Roger Quist Middle School as the associated parking location for the Thornton opening.

Anythink describes the facility as the nation’s first public nature library. Axios Denver independently reported that the Thornton library was scheduled to open Aug. 8 and described its nature-centered design as a new model for library space.
