Hillsboro Gas Prices Ease Slightly as Diesel Nears $6
Hillsboro drivers saw regular gas ease slightly in AAA’s July 31 metro check, while diesel remained above $5.50 and reached $5.999 at one local station.
Regular gas and diesel were moving in different directions in the latest price check serving Hillsboro. On July 31, AAA listed the Portland-Vancouver, Oregon-only metro average at $4.719 per gallon for regular gas and $5.533 for diesel.
Regular gas was down 0.2 cents from the previous day, down 0.5 cents from a week earlier and down 12.9 cents from a month earlier. Despite that recent easing, the average remained 63.4 cents higher than it was a year ago.
Diesel remains the larger concern for high-mileage drivers
Diesel followed a different pattern. The AAA metro average rose 0.2 cents from the prior day, while falling 0.5 cents from a week earlier and 10.3 cents from a month earlier. Compared with July 31, 2025, diesel was up $1.018 per gallon.
That gap matters most for drivers and businesses that use diesel regularly. Contractors, delivery operators, landscapers, service companies and other high-mileage businesses may feel diesel costs more directly than households that fill up only occasionally. Fuel expenses can also become a consideration for restaurants and other businesses that depend on deliveries or service vehicles, although the available price data does not document specific local business reactions.
Hillsboro stations show a meaningful spread
Individual pump listings in Hillsboro were not identical to one another or to the metro average. Costco‘s Hillsboro warehouse listed regular gas at $4.599 per gallon. The 7-Eleven at 5456 NE Brookwood Parkway listed regular gas at $4.899 and diesel at $5.999.
The two regular-gas listings were separated by 30 cents per gallon. On a 15-gallon fill-up, that difference would amount to about $4.50 before considering membership requirements, payment rules or any later price change.
Those figures are station-level listings, not a citywide Hillsboro average. Prices can vary by location, membership status, competition and the time each listing was updated. Costco notes that prices shown online may not match the pump price at the moment of purchase, while the 7-Eleven listing says its fuel prices are updated within 24 hours.
What Hillsboro drivers should watch
For commuters and weekend travelers, the latest data points to regular gas holding near $4.72 across the Oregon side of the metro while gradually easing from the previous day, week and month. Diesel remains much more expensive and is still more than $1 per gallon above its year-ago level.
A station-level check may therefore be more useful than relying on the metro average when planning a fill-up. Drivers should compare nearby pumps shortly before buying, especially when traveling, operating a work vehicle or managing a fleet. Contractors, delivery drivers, restaurants and service businesses may want to monitor diesel listings separately because diesel is following a somewhat different short-term trend.
