Lehi-Area Gas, Diesel Prices Remain Above Last Week’s Levels

Regular gasoline in the Provo-Orem metro averaged $4.264 per gallon on July 31, according to AAA, while diesel averaged $5.258. The metro figures include Lehi and provide the closest current benchmark for local drivers, although they are not a Lehi-only average.

Regular gas eased 0.8 cents from the previous day, but it remained 10.3 cents higher than a week earlier, 48 cents higher than a month earlier and 90.4 cents higher than a year earlier.

Diesel continued to move higher

Diesel followed a different short-term path. The $5.258-per-gallon metro average was up 0.2 cents from the previous day, 19.2 cents from a week earlier, 55.2 cents from a month earlier and $1.528 from a year earlier.

That separate movement matters for Lehi-area drivers and businesses that rely on diesel-powered vehicles. Contractors, delivery operators, landscapers, service companies, farms and other businesses may face greater fuel costs even when regular gas shows a small day-to-day decline.

What the trend means for Lehi households

For commuters, the latest numbers point to continued pressure on weekly driving budgets. Households with long commutes may notice the increase most clearly over several fill-ups, while weekend travelers may need to account for higher fuel costs when planning longer trips.

Fuel is also an operating expense for restaurants, delivery services and other local businesses. Higher transportation costs can affect delivery routes, service calls and the cost of moving supplies. That does not mean every business will pass the full increase on to customers, but sustained fuel increases can add pressure to prices and margins.

Metro average versus local pump prices

AAA’s Provo-Orem figure should be used as a regional reference point, not as a claim about what every station in Lehi is charging. Prices can vary by station, payment method, fuel grade and the time of day.

Online Lehi station listings dated July 18 provide local examples, but they are older than the July 31 AAA snapshot and should not be used to calculate a current citywide average. Some displayed listings also conflict with the metro data, making the AAA figure the more consistent comparison for tracking the broader trend.
