Tigard-Area Gas Prices Nearly Flat as Diesel Rises to $5.54
Tigard-area regular gas averaged $4.717 on Aug. 1, down slightly for the day, while Portland-Vancouver diesel rose to $5.544 per gallon.
Regular gasoline prices were nearly unchanged in the latest Portland-Vancouver metro check used by Tigard-area readers, while diesel moved higher and reached $5.544 per gallon.
AAAโs August 1, 2026, Oregon fuel-price update listed the Portland-Vancouver Oregon metro average at $4.717 per gallon for regular gasoline and $5.544 for diesel. AAA does not publish a separate Tigard average on the Oregon page, so these figures describe the metro market rather than every station in Tigard.
Regular gas slips slightly for the day
The regular-gas average was down 0.2 cents from the previous day, a change small enough to leave prices essentially flat for most drivers. The weekly and monthly direction was also lower: the average was down 1.4 cents from a week earlier and down 11 cents from a month earlier.
Even with that recent easing, regular gasoline remained 62.3 cents higher than it was one year earlier, according to AAAโs comparison data. For Tigard households and commuters, the modest short-term decline has not erased the longer-term difference in the cost of filling a tank.
Diesel moves higher
Diesel rose 1.1 cents from the previous day and 0.7 cents from the prior week, reaching $5.544 per gallon in the metro average. That puts diesel above the $5.50 mark while regular gasoline was moving slightly lower over the same recent periods.
Diesel was down 8.4 cents from a month earlier but remained $1.013 higher than a year ago. The split between the two fuels matters for contractors, delivery operators, landscapers, restaurants and other businesses that depend on commercial vehicles or diesel-powered equipment. Higher fuel costs can affect operating budgets even when regular-gas prices are easing.
What Tigard drivers should keep in mind
Actual prices at Tigard stations may differ from the metro average because of location, brand, payment method, competition and timing. A station listing is not the same as an official citywide average, and the Tigard station listings cited from Way.com were dated July 19, well before AAAโs August 1 metro snapshot.
The U.S. Energy Information Administrationโs July 28 gasoline and diesel update provides broader national context. It reported a U.S. regular-gas average of $4.096 per gallon for the week of July 27 and a national on-highway diesel average of $5.313, but those figures should not be substituted for the Portland-Vancouver metro averages or treated as Tigard prices.
For commuters, weekend travelers and households, regular gas is showing some recent relief but remains well above last yearโs level. For businesses and workers using diesel vehicles, the latest day-to-day and weekly increase is the more immediate concern.
