Greensboro Gas Rises to $3.806 as Diesel Reaches $5.362

Regular gasoline and diesel moved higher in the latest Greensboro metro price check, but the two fuels continued to follow different short-term trends. AAA listed regular gas at $3.806 per gallon on August 1, 2026, while diesel reached $5.362 per gallon.

Gasoline rose 1.9 cents from the previous day, when the AAA check showed $3.787. Despite that daily increase, regular gas was down 0.4 cents from a week earlier. Compared with a year ago, however, the Greensboro-area average was up 90.6 cents per gallon.

Diesel continues to move higher

Diesel posted the sharper recent increase. The August 1 average was 2.8 cents higher than the previous day and 10.4 cents above the level from a week earlier. Diesel was also up $1.828 from a year ago.

Compared with the last check, regular gas was up about 0.6 cents and diesel was up about 3.2 cents. The latest figures keep diesel well above gasoline, a gap that matters most to businesses and workers who rely on heavier vehicles or travel many miles each day.
