Sandy Gas Check: Regular Near $4, Diesel Near $5.50
Current listings at two Sandy fuel stations show regular gasoline near $4 per gallon and diesel ranging from $4.80 to $5.499. Costco listed regular gas at $3.96 per gallon and diesel at $4.80, while Maverik at 432 West 9000 South listed regular at $4.389 and diesel at $5.499.
These are station-level prices, not an official Sandy-wide average. Prices can change during the day, and the figures do not represent every station in the city.
Regular gas: about a 43-cent spread
Among the two checked locations, Costco had the lower regular-gas price at $3.96 per gallon. Maverik’s listed regular price was $4.389, creating a difference of about 43 cents per gallon.
For a 15-gallon fill-up, that difference would be about $6.44 before taxes, discounts or membership pricing. Commuters and households may want to compare nearby stations, but a special trip can reduce the benefit if it adds extra driving time or fuel use.
Diesel: about a 70-cent gap
The diesel difference was wider. Costco listed diesel at $4.80 per gallon, compared with $5.499 at Maverik, a gap of about 70 cents per gallon.
That difference matters most for drivers and businesses that buy larger volumes. Contractors, delivery operators, landscapers, service companies and other diesel-dependent operations may have more reason to compare prices before filling work vehicles or equipment. The station comparison does not show that local businesses have changed their prices, but fuel costs can affect operating decisions, delivery costs and project budgets.
Regional context
AAA’s Utah fuel-price table, dated August 4, listed the Salt Lake City metro average at $4.332 for regular gasoline and $5.405 for diesel. Those figures provide broader regional context and should not be read as Sandy’s citywide average.
At the station level, Costco’s listed prices remain at $3.96 for regular gas and $4.80 for diesel, matching the levels recorded in the previous same-site check. That comparison applies only to the checked Costco location, not to all Sandy stations.
