Holmdel’s Bethany Road repairs begin, with months of alternating one-way traffic
Holmdel Township expects contractors to begin concrete repairs and roadway resurfacing on Bethany Road on or about July 8, 2026, bringing daytime traffic controls to the road for several months.
The township’s notice says traffic will be maintained through traffic-control personnel and alternating one-way patterns while crews work. Drivers will be directed through the work area in one direction at a time, which means commuters should allow extra time when traveling Bethany Road during the project.
The work is expected to continue for several months. The township notice does not provide an exact completion date, identify the contractor or state the project’s total cost. It also does not announce a full closure of Bethany Road.
What drivers should expect
The traffic pattern described by the township applies to daytime work. Vehicles will continue to move through the area, but alternating one-way control can create delays as traffic waits for the direction of travel to change.
The July 8 date is an expected start date rather than a guarantee that all work will begin that day. The township described the start as occurring “on or about” that date and gave a general duration of several months.
Separate grant applications
Holmdel’s June 23 Township Committee agenda also included municipal grant business unrelated to the Bethany Road project. The agenda included a public hearing and authorization to apply for a $35,000 fiscal 2027 Community Development Block Grant.
The proposed CDBG application would fund ADA-compliant doors at the Holmdel Senior Community Center at 6 Crawfords Corner Road. The agenda item is an application request, not documentation that the township has received the grant.
The same agenda included an application for a Monmouth County Municipal Park Grant for renovations at Robert Labbe Memorial Park, 24 Orchard Avenue. That item also describes a proposed application rather than a confirmed award.
For residents and commuters, the immediate change is the planned Bethany Road work. Daytime travel will be managed through alternating one-way traffic beginning around July 8, with the township expecting repairs and resurfacing to remain underway for several months.
