Eugene Airport begins $450 million Concourse A expansion

Construction has begun on a roughly $450 million expansion of Eugene Airport’s Concourse A, a project intended to address overcrowding and modernize passenger facilities.

The construction launch took place in early July 2026. Eugene Mayor Kaarin Knudson and state officials participated in the launch, according to reporting on the project.

A separate Gate A6 upgrade

The City of Eugene also announced a separate $1 million state investment for infrastructure improvements at Gate A6. The funding comes through House Bill 5204.

The Gate A6 work will replace and relocate a passenger boarding bridge that is about 50 years old. The project is intended to expand hold-room space and improve gate operations, reliability and energy performance.

Hold rooms are the areas where passengers wait before boarding. Relocating the bridge is expected to support the revised gate layout while addressing aging equipment.

City-owned airport

Eugene Airport is owned and operated by the City of Eugene. The Concourse A project represents a major public-facing investment in the airport, which serves as part of the region’s transportation network.

The expansion is the larger of the two projects now associated with the airport’s construction activity. The Gate A6 improvements focus on a specific boarding area, while the Concourse A work is intended to address broader overcrowding and passenger-facility needs.

Construction is now underway. Public announcements about the launch did not establish a final completion date for the full Concourse A expansion or specify how many additional gates or passengers the completed project will accommodate.
