Eugene Gas and Diesel Prices Tick Higher, Diesel Up 8.8 Cents in a Week
Eugene-Springfield regular gas averages $4.601 and diesel $5.530 on Aug. 1, with diesel up 8.8 cents from a week earlier.
Regular gasoline and diesel prices both moved higher in the latest Eugene-Springfield metro check from AAA, but diesel continues to show the sharper short-term increase.
AAA listed regular gasoline at $4.601 per gallon on Aug. 1, up 1.0 cent from the previous dayโs $4.591 average. Diesel reached $5.530 per gallon, an increase of 0.9 cent from $5.521 the day before.
Regular gas is up modestly over the week
The Eugene-Springfield regular-gas average was 2.7 cents higher than a week earlier, when AAA listed it at $4.574. Compared with one month ago, the average was up 5.6 cents from $4.545.
The longer-term comparison remains more significant for household budgets. Regular gasoline was 69.7 cents per gallon higher than the $3.904 average recorded one year earlier.
Diesel rises nearly 9 cents in a week
Diesel prices increased 8.8 cents from the previous weekโs $5.442 average. That is a much faster weekly rise than regular gasoline, even though the day-to-day increase was less than 1 cent.
Diesel was also 9.2 cents higher than one month ago, when the Eugene-Springfield average was $5.438. Compared with a year earlier, diesel was up $1.051 per gallon from $4.479.
At the current metro averages, filling a 20-gallon tank would cost about $92 for regular gasoline or $111 for diesel. Actual pump totals can vary by neighborhood, brand, fuel grade, payment method, discounts and the timing of the purchase.
Why the difference matters locally
Higher gasoline prices can add to commuting and weekend-travel costs for Eugene-area households. Diesel users, including delivery operators, contractors, agricultural operations and service businesses, may face added pressure on transportation and operating budgets when the fuel rises faster.
Those added costs do not automatically translate into a specific price increase for any one business. They can, however, affect companies that make frequent deliveries, operate commercial vehicles or perform service calls across the Eugene-Springfield area.
AAAโs figures are Eugene-Springfield metro averages, not a claim that every Eugene station is charging the same price. The U.S. Energy Information Administrationโs latest nationwide weekly gasoline and diesel release was dated July 28, with its next scheduled update on Aug. 4. The AAA metro figures therefore provide the more current local comparison for this check.
