Police identify Bridgeport park attack victim as 22-year-old East End man
Bridgeport police identified the man critically injured in an attack at B.J. Brown Park as a 22-year-old East End resident, replacing an earlier police estimate that he was likely homeless and appeared to be in his late 30s or early 40s. Police have not released his name.
Police spokesperson Jeffrey Holtz told the Connecticut Post that a family member identified the man from a photograph after investigators received a tip. The family member said he had not been home for a week; Holtz said he had not been reported missing.
Officers responded to B.J. Brown Park near Center Street Extension and Madison Avenue at about 9:30 a.m. Oct. 14. Police said they found him unresponsive beneath an overhang by a bicycle rack with a severe head injury; a blood-covered rock was beside him. As of the afternoon of Oct. 15, he remained in critical condition and could not speak.
Police said suspects and motive remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Kevin Cronin at 203-581-5292.
