Bridgeport Gas Dips to $4.294 While Diesel Climbs to $5.581

The figures are metro averages, not the price at every station in Bridgeport. Pump prices can vary by neighborhood, brand, taxes, convenience-store pricing, and whether a station is located along a major travel route.

Regular gas is nearly flat for the day

AAA’s Bridgeport-area regular-gas average fell $0.003 from the July 30 check, when the average was $4.297. That small decline does not yet indicate a broad retreat in prices.

Compared with other time periods, regular gasoline remains higher. The average is up $0.020 from a week earlier, up $0.251 from a month earlier, and $1.117 higher than a year ago.

For commuters and households, the day-to-day change is too small to materially alter most fill-ups. The larger year-over-year increase is more important for residents who drive long distances, maintain multiple vehicles, or depend on regular gasoline for work and family travel.

Diesel continues to rise

Diesel reached $5.581 per gallon in AAA’s July 31 Bridgeport metro check, up $0.003 from the previous day. The increase is also larger across the longer comparison periods: diesel is up $0.096 from last week, up $0.254 from a month earlier, and $1.775 higher than a year ago.

That trend matters beyond the pump. Diesel is widely used by delivery operators, contractors, service companies, commercial fleets, buses, equipment operators, and other businesses that move goods or use heavy vehicles. Higher diesel costs can put pressure on operating expenses and may eventually affect delivery charges, service pricing, construction costs, or other business expenses, although the AAA figures alone do not document specific local price changes.

National data also showed fuel increases

The U.S. Energy Information Administration‘s July 28 national update showed weekly increases in both gasoline and diesel prices. That provides broader context for the Bridgeport-area movement, but national data should not be treated as a substitute for the local metro average.

For residents planning weekend travel, the latest check suggests that fuel costs remain elevated even as regular gas posts a slight one-day decline. Diesel-heavy businesses face the sharper increase, with diesel now more than $1.77 per gallon above its level a year ago.
