Yemen minister: 5 killed, 16 wounded near Aden palace
Yemenโs health minister said five people were killed and 16 wounded in an October 15 attack near the Al-Maashiq palace complex in Aden, which is used by the countryโs internationally recognized government. The minister, Qasim Buhaibeh, said the casualties included security guards and civilian employees at the complex.
The Associated Press reported that witnesses described at least six explosions near the palace area. Yemenโs information minister said the prime minister and cabinet members were safe.
The Houthis claimed responsibility. A spokesperson for the group described the intended target as a Saudi military operations headquarters, but Reuters said it could not independently verify that description. The reports place the attack near the palace complex; they do not establish that the palace itself was struck.
Casualty reports changed as officials provided figures: AP initially cited an unnamed Yemeni official who reported at least two people killed and six wounded; Reuters later reported Buhaibehโs figures of five killed and 16 wounded; and an AP update on October 16 reported at least five deaths and more than a dozen wounded. These are attributed reports, not independently confirmed totals.
