Clarksville begins Bel-Aire skatepark construction, targets April 2027
Construction has begun on Clarksvilleโs planned Bel-Aire all-wheels skatepark, with the city anticipating completion in April 2027. Clarksville Parks and Recreation broke ground Oct. 12, 2026, at 124 Marie Drive. April is the cityโs anticipated completion date, not a confirmed opening date.
The project is planned for the former Bel-Aire swimming-pool site beside Bel-Aire Park. The city describes the skatepark as a regional recreation facility and says Parks and Recreation will develop and manage it. The groundbreaking marks the start of construction at a site that had been used for the former pool.
Planned amenities include more than skating
The cityโs plans include an accessible paved walking trail, picnic pavilions, a basketball court and a playground alongside the skatepark. The amenities mean the project includes recreation options beyond skating, though the city has not provided an estimate of how many people the facility will serve.
Clarksville says the Bel-Aire skatepark will be larger than the existing skatepark at Heritage Park. The city has not provided dimensions for either facility, so the difference in size cannot be quantified.
The city says public input favored a regional skatepark at the former pool site and that members of the skating community helped select amenities through public meetings. The city has not quantified participation, and its account does not establish that every resident supported the plan.
Grant figures differ between reports
Bikers Who Care applied for and was awarded a grant from the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation, according to the city. The city reported the grant as $1,445,000, while ClarksvilleNow reported $1,455,000. The cityโs announcement identifies its figure as the grant amount, not as the total project cost.
The cityโs Aug. 7 announcement said construction was expected to take about one year. Its Oct. 12 announcement later projected completion in April 2027. The April 2027 date is the cityโs current stated target in its groundbreaking announcement; it does not establish when the facility will open to the public.
