The UN Security Council unanimously adopted resolution S/RES/2832 (2026) on Oct. 19, bringing digital technologies explicitly into its agenda on children and armed conflict, according to the UN Office of the Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict.
The resolution calls on member states to take measures to protect children affected by armed conflict from violations and abuses committed, facilitated or amplified by digital technologies, the office says. It includes measures at national and regional levels.
All 15 Council members voted in favor. Greece sponsored the draft with 92 co-sponsors, and the UN office describes it as the Councilโs 15th resolution focused on children and armed conflict. The resolution encourages the UN system to gather information and lessons about the risks and benefits of digital technologies for protecting children affected by armed conflict.
