Camarillo couple found dead; cause and manner undetermined

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies found a married couple, a 79-year-old man and a 91-year-old woman, dead at their Tahquitz Court home in Camarillo on Oct. 19, 2026. A family member requested a welfare check because they had been unable to reach the couple, KCLU reported.

The Sheriff’s Office said detectives obtained a search warrant and recovered a firearm at the scene. The office did not say whether the firearm was connected to the deaths; its recovery alone does not establish how either person died.

The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death. In an Oct. 21 update, the Sheriff’s Office said the investigation was ongoing, detectives believed the incident was isolated, and there was no outstanding threat to the public. The office said identification was pending next-of-kin notification.
