I-94 and WIS 35 closures near Hudson scheduled for Oct. 26–29

Two inside lanes on the westbound I-94 bridge near Hudson are scheduled to close Oct. 26 and 27, with a traffic shift and ramp restrictions planned through Oct. 29. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s weekly update says the work is weather dependent.

The schedule affects motorists using westbound I-94 and the WIS 35 and MN 95 connections at the St. Croix River bridges between Hudson, Wisconsin, and Lakeland, Minnesota. The closures and traffic changes are planned as follows:

• Oct. 26: The two inside westbound I-94 bridge lanes are scheduled to close for rumble-strip, glare-screen and concrete-barrier work.
• Oct. 27: The same two lanes are scheduled to close for permanent pavement marking work.
• Oct. 28: Westbound I-94 bridge traffic is scheduled to shift to the two inside lanes. Ramps from westbound I-94 to northbound WIS 35 and MN 95 are expected to close at 7 a.m. and reopen by 4:30 p.m.
• Oct. 28–29: The ramp from southbound WIS 35 to westbound I-94 is scheduled to close at 8 a.m. Oct. 28 and remain closed overnight. It is scheduled to reopen Oct. 29 after concrete curb work.

That means the westbound I-94 ramps to northbound WIS 35 and MN 95 are planned to be closed during the day on Oct. 28, while the southbound WIS 35 ramp to westbound I-94 is set to remain closed overnight. WisDOT’s update does not list a detour route or estimate delays. Motorists can check current WisDOT construction updates before traveling because weather may change the schedule.

Bridge project is scheduled to continue into November i

These short-term closures fall within the broader I-94 St. Croix River Bridges project. WisDOT’s project schedule lists April 6, 2026, as the construction start and mid-November 2026 as the scheduled completion period. A WEAU report published Oct. 24 says completion is expected by the second week of November. The dates differ, and both refer to the overall project, not the specific Oct. 26–29 closure sequence.
