Buffalo gas edges up again while diesel stays just under $5.91
Buffalo gas is still inching up, while diesel is basically flat near $5.91. AAA’s latest check shows gas above the U.S. average but below New York’s.
Buffalo drivers are seeing two different fuel stories at once: regular gas is still edging higher, while diesel is basically flat and just under last week’s level. AAA’s May 13 check puts Buffalo-Niagara Falls regular gas at $4.576 a gallon and diesel at $5.909.
Compared with the previous Buffalo check, regular gas is up from $4.566 and diesel is down from $5.917. The year-ago comparison is still steep: regular gas was $3.059 and diesel was $3.884.
How Buffalo compares
Buffalo’s regular gas average is below New York’s $4.593 statewide average but above the U.S. average of $4.511. Diesel shows the same pattern: Buffalo is below New York’s $5.941 average but above the national average of $5.659.
That matters for commuters, households, contractors, delivery drivers, restaurants, weekend travelers, and other small businesses that feel every extra cent at the pump. With Memorial Day travel season getting closer, even small day-to-day moves can change what a fill-up costs.
What to watch next
The main question for the next AAA check is whether regular gas keeps climbing or settles back down. Diesel has been steadier, but it is still expensive enough that a small move can matter to fleets and service businesses. EIA’s latest national fuel update also shows the broader backdrop remains elevated.
Station-to-station gaps can matter more than the metro average when it is time to fill up. If you are driving around Buffalo, send in the highest and lowest pump prices you are seeing locally.
