Dallas gas and diesel prices ease day to day, but both stay elevated week over week

Dallas gas and diesel both eased from yesterday, but regular and diesel remain above last week and far above last year, keeping fuel budgets tight.

Dallas drivers got a small break at the pump on May 10, but the latest AAA metro check still shows an expensive fuel market. Regular gasoline averaged $4.079 a gallon in Dallas, down 3.0 cents from yesterday. Diesel averaged $5.133, down 3.4 cents day to day.

The daily dip does not change the broader trend. Regular gas is up 8.6 cents from a week ago and 126.7 cents from a year ago. Diesel is up 18.2 cents from a week ago and 196.2 cents from a year ago. That is the part commuters notice in weekly budgets, and it is the part contractors, delivery fleets, landscapers, plumbers, restaurants with frequent supply runs, and other small businesses feel in operating costs.

How Dallas compares with Texas and the U.S.

Dallas regular gas is slightly above the Texas average of $4.045, and Dallas diesel is slightly above the state average of $5.087. Both are still below the latest AAA national averages, which were $4.522 for regular and $5.647 for diesel. Dallas is not the most expensive market in the country, but it remains costly by Texas standards.

What the broader fuel backdrop says

The Energy Information Administration’s May 5 fuel update showed Texas regular gasoline at $3.877 and U.S. on-highway diesel at $5.640, underscoring that fuel costs remain elevated beyond Dallas alone. For everyday drivers, the practical takeaway is simple: the latest Dallas check shows a slight day-to-day easing, but not enough to erase the spring run-up. If you are filling up around Dallas, share the highest and lowest pump prices you are seeing locally.
