Poteau gas watch: regular near $3.42 as metro diesel eases
Casey’s regular is near $3.42, diesel is near $4.46, and AAA’s Le Flore-Sequoyah averages moved lower on June 22.
Poteau drivers checking the pump on Monday, June 22, have two different fuel stories to watch: regular gas at the checked local station is still holding near $3.42 a gallon, while the broader Le Flore-Sequoyah diesel average is easing again.
Casey’s at 3102 N. Broadway St. in Poteau listed Super 87 at $3.419 per gallon and diesel at $4.459 per gallon, with the station listing updated about one hour before the price check. That is one station snapshot, not a Poteau citywide average, but it gives local drivers a concrete number to compare before filling up.
AAA’s Oklahoma fuel-price table, dated June 22, listed the Le Flore-Sequoyah regular average at $3.480 per gallon and diesel at $4.422. That row is the nearest metro-style movement indicator for the area, not a specific Poteau-only average.
Regular gas is roughly steady at the checked Poteau station
For regular unleaded, the Casey’s Poteau listing remains close to the last same-site check, when Super 87 was also around $3.42 per gallon. That makes the station-level picture fairly steady for commuters, school and work trips, and households trying to time a fill-up around payday or weekend travel.
The broader AAA Le Flore-Sequoyah regular average moved lower. AAA listed regular at $3.480 on June 22, down from $3.494 the day before and $3.657 a week earlier. That does not guarantee every Poteau station has moved the same way, but it does show the regional average has been easing over the past week.
Diesel is still the bigger cost line for work vehicles
Diesel remains much higher than regular at the checked Poteau Casey’s, where the listing showed $4.459 per gallon. Compared with the previous same-site check, that keeps local diesel near the $4.46 mark rather than showing a major station-level drop.
AAA’s Le Flore-Sequoyah diesel average, however, was lower on June 22 at $4.422 per gallon. That was down from $4.441 the day before and $4.621 a week earlier. For drivers who can compare stops before filling up, the gap between an individual station listing and the broader area average is worth watching.
Diesel matters beyond personal travel. Contractors, delivery routes, farm users, tow and repair operators, restaurants with supply deliveries, lawn crews, and other service businesses can feel diesel changes faster than households that mostly buy regular gas. Even a modest move can affect route planning, job bids, delivery fees, and the cost of running equipment.
How Poteau drivers can use the June 22 numbers
The main takeaway for regular-gas buyers is that the checked Poteau pump is steady near $3.42, while the Le Flore-Sequoyah average is higher at $3.480 but moving down from both yesterday and last week. For diesel buyers, the checked station remains near $4.46, while AAA’s area average is lower and easing.
National fuel context is also moving lower in the latest federal weekly data. The U.S. Energy Information Administration’s June 16 release, using the June 15 price row, showed U.S. regular gasoline at $4.052 per gallon, down 9.4 cents from the prior week, and U.S. on-highway diesel at $5.059, down 15.1 cents from the prior week. Those are national figures, not Poteau prices, but they help explain why local drivers may be watching for further movement at area stations.
For now, Poteau-area drivers should compare regular and diesel separately, check the posted pump before starting a fill-up, and pay special attention if buying diesel for work vehicles or equipment. Share the highest and lowest Poteau-area pump prices you are seeing so other local drivers can compare before their next stop.
