Irvine adopts new athletic field and Fieldhouse fees, sets hourly rates
Irvine City Council approved hourly outdoor athletic reservation fees, new Irvine Fieldhouse rates and a 10% annual cap starting Jan. 1, 2027.
Irvine residents, leagues and event organizers who book city athletic space will face a new pricing structure after the City Council approved fee changes on June 9, 2026. The adopted resolutions move outdoor athletic reservations to hourly pricing, establish Irvine Fieldhouse fees and allow reservation-related fees to rise by up to 10% a year starting Jan. 1, 2027.
What changed
The city’s new fee schedule changes how outdoor athletic reservations are priced and sets the initial rates for the Irvine Fieldhouse. City documents say the update is meant to align fees more closely with use and with the costs of operating the facilities.
A separate policy resolution gives the city authority to raise reservation-related fees and deposits by up to 10% annually beginning Jan. 1, 2027. The city says the change will help cover costs more effectively over time.
Why the city says it matters
In supporting materials, Irvine estimated the outdoor field reservation change could generate about $150,000 a year for the General Fund. City staff also said the Fieldhouse pricing is intended to help the facility move toward self-support after it opens.
What users should watch
For families, teams and other regular users, the practical effect is that reservations will be charged by the hour instead of through the previous structure. The new fees are scheduled to take effect 60 days after adoption, on Aug. 8, 2026.
Anyone who books city fields or expects to use the Fieldhouse should check the updated fee schedule before making fall reservations or planning recurring events.
