Schools Continue Virtual Learning Amid Winter Conditions
Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) have announced the continuation of virtual learning through the end of the week. The decision comes in response to ongoing frigid temperatures and the impact of recent snowstorms on bus operations. An update is expected on Sunday regarding the school’s status for the following week.
City Services Resume as Recovery Efforts Progress
City offices, facilities, and courts have returned to regular operating hours. Crews are working diligently to clear snow and ice from residential streets, which have improved from 57% passable to 95% passable. Mayor Alyia Gaskins announced the suspension of sidewalk fines, acknowledging the challenges residents face during the recovery process.
Memorial to Honor DCA Crash Victims
A new riverside park is set to become a site of reflection for the 67 victims of the tragic midair collision near Dulles International Airport. The memorial aims to provide a space for the community to honor and remember those lost in the disaster.
Restaurant Week Extended Following Winter Storm
In light of the recent winter storm’s impact on local businesses, Alexandria Restaurant Week has been extended through February 8. Nearly 80 restaurants are participating, offering prix-fixe dinners at $35, $45, or $55 per person. This extension provides residents and visitors additional opportunities to support local dining establishments.
