Two men sentenced in Alexandria hotel sexual-assault case

Two men convicted in connection with a 2022 sexual-assault case at an Alexandria hotel received lengthy active prison sentences, the City of Alexandria Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office said July 28, 2026.

Ja’Real Wilkins, 37, of Alexandria, was sentenced July 9 by Judge Heidi E. Meinzer to 40 years of active incarceration. A jury convicted Wilkins of two felony counts of rape and one felony count of forcible sodomy.

Tysheem Boykins, 27, of Falls Church, was sentenced July 14 by Judge Kathleen M. Uston to 16 years of active incarceration. He was convicted of one felony count of forcible sodomy and one felony count of robbery by threat.

Sentences and protective orders

Wilkins received 50 years on each rape count, with 35 years suspended on each, and 50 years for forcible sodomy, with 40 years suspended. The sentences run consecutively, producing 40 years of active incarceration.

Boykins received 35 years for forcible sodomy, with 20 years suspended, and five years for robbery by threat, with four years suspended. Those sentences also run consecutively, for 16 years of active incarceration.

The court imposed lifetime protective orders barring both men from contacting the victim. The orders also include probation, treatment, registry and other conduct conditions.

Case background

The case began with a report of a sexual assault in progress on Sept. 25, 2022, at a hotel at 110 S. Bragg Street in Alexandria. The Alexandria Police Department led the investigation, with Detective Kristina Loerch identified as the investigator.

Both defendants were being held without bail at the William G. Truesdale Alexandria Adult Detention Center pending transfer to the Virginia Department of Corrections.
