Cairo council advances utility, housing and road-work actions

The Cairo Mayor and Council approved the purchase of two electric utility bucket trucks during its March 23 meeting as the city worked to secure pricing. The city’s meeting materials do not state the purchase price.

The council also authorized acceptance of right-of-way and a warranty deed connected to a housing development. The action involves property and street-system matters tied to future development. The public meeting summary does not identify the number of planned homes or a completion date.

Road and utility work continues

Road work was continuing on 13th Avenue SW between South Broad Street and First Street SW. Council minutes said a utility trench at the south end of 13th Avenue met specifications.
