Youth anti-violence project expands after Kayla’s Legacy event
A new community effort called ‘The Power of Us’ is taking shape around youth outreach and gun-safety messaging, building on momentum from Kayla’s Legacy. Organizers say the goal is straightforward: encourage young people to speak up when they see a gun, and remind adults about secure storage so firearms do not end up in the wrong hands.
The project is tied to the 2024 killing of 15-year-old Kayla Rincon-Miller near Coralwood Mall, and it is being promoted alongside ongoing court proceedings connected to that case.
