Cape Coral, FL — January 30, 2026 — A burglary suspect was apprehended after fleeing on foot when officers responded to a reported break-in on Cape Coral Parkway West.
Burglary Suspect Apprehended After Foot Pursuit
On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at approximately 11:24 a.m., Cape Coral Police officers responded to a reported burglary at a residence in the 2100 block of Cape Coral Parkway West. The property was listed but not currently rented, and witnesses reported an unauthorized individual inside the home.
Officers were informed that a man matching the suspect’s description was walking eastbound along Cape Coral Parkway. Upon locating the individual, later identified as Christopher Darrell Cole (DOB 06/04/1988), he attempted to flee on foot. After a brief pursuit, officers apprehended Cole without injury.
An investigation revealed that Cole had unlawfully entered the home, causing damage consistent with cigarette burns on several pieces of furniture valued at approximately $1,099.99. Cole claimed he entered through an unlocked door and had “exchanged a pair of shoes” for the residence.
Based on the investigation, Christopher Cole was arrested and charged with the following:
- Burglary of an Unoccupied Dwelling (F.S.S. 810.02(3)(b)) – Second-Degree Felony
- Criminal Mischief Over $1,000 (F.S.S. 806.13(1b3)) – Third-Degree Felony
- Resisting an Officer Without Violence (F.S.S. 843.02) – First-Degree Misdemeanor
