Car Accident Near 10th Street Southeast
On January 29, 2026, a 45-year-old woman was injured in a car accident near 10th Street Southeast. The incident occurred around 3:51 p.m., prompting a response from local EMS teams. The woman briefly lost consciousness following the crash and was transported to Mercy Hospital with stable vital signs. The cause of the collision has not yet been confirmed, and authorities have not released further details regarding other vehicles or individuals involved. Marshalltown Man Sentenced for Meth Distribution
Marcos Servin, 23, of Marshalltown, was sentenced to over 12 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The sentencing took place on January 29, 2026, in Cedar Rapids. Evidence presented at the hearing showed that law enforcement officers stopped Servin on October 23, 2024, and discovered over 900 grams of methamphetamine in his car. A subsequent search of a Des Moines home linked to Servin revealed an additional 1,900 grams of methamphetamine. Servin was sentenced to 151 months of imprisonment and must serve a five-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system. The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Michael Hudson and investigated by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
