Under the proposal, uncertified teachers would be required to enroll in approved preparation programs and meet specific benchmarks each year. Full compliance would be phased in over several years, with the goal of meeting all requirements by the 2029–30 school year.

The issue is scheduled for discussion at the school board’s February 9 meeting. District leaders have framed the plan as a balance between maintaining classroom stability and strengthening long-term instructional standards.
