Glendale drivers face 107th Avenue closure during Northern Parkway work
A 107th Avenue closure south of Northern Avenue continues through August 3 while crews connect utilities and install temporary traffic signals.
Drivers in Glendale cannot use 107th Avenue south of Northern Avenue during a scheduled closure that began July 6 and is expected to continue through 5 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2026.
The closure is part of construction on the Northern Parkway corridor. Maricopa County says crews are using the four-week work period to complete utility connections and install temporary traffic signals at the Northern Avenue and 107th Avenue intersection.
How to reach Country Meadows
Access to Country Meadows is being maintained through 109th and 110th avenues. Drivers should follow posted detour signs and use alternate routes when possible.
The restriction affects more than vehicle traffic. Pedestrian access at the 107th Avenue and Northern Avenue intersection is also closed during the work period. People walking or using mobility devices should avoid trying to cross at that intersection and plan another route.
Northern Avenue remains open, but lane shifts are possible
Northern Avenue remains open with one eastbound lane and one westbound lane available for travel. The county warns that drivers should expect lane shifts or other adjustments as construction continues through the work zone.
Travelers should allow extra time, reduce speed, watch for construction crews and obey posted traffic-control signs. Maricopa County says no utility service outages are anticipated.
Closure is part of a larger project
Maricopa County describes the four-week closure as an accelerated schedule intended to reduce impacts on nearby residents and travelers. The county expects the project segment to be close to 50% complete after the closure period. That is a projected status, not a final construction measurement.
The Northern Parkway corridor extends about 12.5 miles between Loop 303 and U.S. 60. Glendale is working with Maricopa County, the cities of El Mirage and Peoria, and the Maricopa Association of Governments on transportation improvements along the corridor.
Construction on the current Northern Avenue segment began in late February 2026 and is expected to continue into early 2027. Planned work includes roadway reconstruction, turn lanes, signal improvements, sidewalks, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant ramps, lighting and landscaping.
August 3 is the countyโs scheduled end date for the 107th Avenue closure, not a guaranteed reopening date. Maricopa County says schedules may change because of weather, equipment failure, illness or other circumstances. Residents should check the countyโs Northern Parkway traffic information and Glendaleโs current street-restriction notices before traveling.
