Honolulu Gas and Diesel Prices Rise in Latest AAA Check
Honolulu’s latest AAA check put regular gas at $5.390 and diesel at $6.818 on July 29, with both higher than the previous day but below month-ago averages.
Regular gasoline and diesel both moved higher in the latest Honolulu-area price check, although each remained below its month-ago average and well above its price from a year earlier.
AAA listed Honolulu regular gasoline at $5.390 per gallon on July 29, 2026, up 0.9 cents from the previous day’s $5.381 and 2.8 cents above the week-ago average of $5.362. The price was 5.8 cents below the month-ago reading of $5.448, but $1.005 higher than the year-ago average of $4.385.
For diesel, AAA reported an average of $6.818 per gallon, up 2.9 cents from the previous day’s $6.789 and 3.1 cents above the week-ago reading of $6.787. Diesel remained 7.8 cents below its month-ago average of $6.896, while standing $1.617 above the year-ago figure of $5.201.
What the prices mean for Honolulu drivers
At the current regular-gas average, a 15-gallon fill-up would cost about $80.85 before any station-specific difference. That makes small changes meaningful for commuters, households with multiple vehicles and workers who drive between job sites.
Diesel remains especially important for delivery fleets, contractors, landscapers, service companies and other commercial operators. A 50-gallon diesel purchase at the Honolulu average would total about $340.90. Higher fuel costs can also add pressure to delivery routes, restaurant supply runs, equipment use and service calls, even when businesses absorb some of the increase rather than passing it directly to customers.
Weekend travelers and people driving to events on Oʻahu may also want to compare nearby stations before filling up. The Honolulu figure is a metro-area benchmark, not a guaranteed price at every pump. Prices can vary by neighborhood, brand, station size and proximity to major travel corridors.
How to read the latest trend
The short-term pattern is mixed across different time periods. Both fuels rose from the previous day and the previous week, but both eased from their month-ago levels. Compared with July 2025, however, regular gasoline and diesel are substantially more expensive.
For budgeting, the latest AAA averages provide a useful regional guide. Drivers looking for the lowest price should still check station-level listings before making a longer trip solely to save a few cents per gallon.
