Irving police are investigating the death of a man who was injured during a traffic stop and later died at a hospital. Police said the stop happened Monday evening near North Belt Line Road and Cross Country Trail, and officers tried to take the driver into custody on suspected narcotics possession.
According to police, the man resisted and a physical struggle followed. After he was handcuffed, officers noticed he was injured. The Dallas County medical examiner is expected to determine the cause of death. Police said both criminal and administrative investigations are underway, with the county public integrity unit also reviewing the case.
City Hall: resident survey opens today
The city’s 2026 resident survey opens Wednesday, Feb. 25, inviting adults to weigh in on quality of life and city services. The city describes it as a quick, about 15-minute survey offered in English and Spanish, and said it will remain open until April 1 at 11:59 pm.
City leaders use the results to help prioritize services and planning, with findings expected to be shared with the City Council and posted online after the data is analyzed.
Grants and upcoming public meetings
Nonprofits that serve low- to moderate-income Irving residents can prepare for the next round of Community Development Block Grant applications, which the city says will be released online starting Monday, March 2.
