Police responded to reports of shots fired around 10:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found three victims with injuries ranging from minor to serious, none considered life-threatening. A man was hospitalized following an explosion and fire while welding a fuel tank in Lee’s Summit. The incident took place around 4:20 p.m. in the 13000 block of East 99th Street near South Noland Road. Fire crews responded to reports of an explosion and a man on fire. Upon arrival, they found black smoke emanating from a metal barn housing equipment and livestock. The man was welding a diesel fuel transfer tank to repair a leak when the explosion occurred. He was transported to an area hospital; his condition was not immediately available. The fire department is investigating the cause of the explosion.
