Lincoln to Host 2026 American Association All-Star Game
The Lincoln Saltdogs, in collaboration with the American Association of Professional Baseball, have announced that Haymarket Park will host the 2026 All-Star Game. The event is scheduled from July 13th to 15th, marking a significant return after a 23-year absence. The festivities will include various activities leading up to the main game, showcasing Lincoln’s vibrant sports culture.
Measles Case Confirmed in Lancaster County
Health officials have confirmed the first measles case in Lancaster County since 1990. The affected individual is a vaccinated adult male with no recent out-of-state travel history. Potential exposure sites include Walmart at 4700 N. 27th St. on January 18th and Med Elite Urgent Care at 7120 S. 69th St. on January 25th. Residents who visited these locations during specified times are advised to monitor for symptoms and complete a risk-assessment survey available on the city’s website.
Street Closures for Nebraska Walk for Life
The 53rd annual Nebraska Walk for Life is set for Saturday, January 31st, starting at 10:00 a.m. from the north steps of the State Capitol. The event will cause temporary street closures: K Street between 14th and 15th streets from 8 a.m. to noon, and 13th Street between L and M streets from 9 a.m. to noon. Gas Leak Reported on UNL’s East Campus
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln issued a safety alert after a gas leak was reported at the Stewart Seed Laboratory on East Campus. The university is working to resolve the issue promptly and ensure the safety of all individuals on campus.
LPD and AARP Nebraska Combat Cryptocurrency ATM Scams
The Lincoln Police Department, in partnership with AARP Nebraska, has initiated an educational campaign to protect older adults from cryptocurrency fraud. A new ordinance requires businesses with cryptocurrency ATMs to display warning notices about potential fraud risks. Volunteers are distributing information packets and warning stickers to all cryptocurrency ATM locations in Lincoln to raise awareness and prevent financial losses.
