Lincoln Gas and Diesel Averages Edge Higher From Prior Day

Regular gasoline and diesel prices in the Lincoln metro both moved slightly higher on July 29, 2026, but each remained below its average from the previous week.
The latest Lincoln metro price check listed regular gasoline at $3.676 per gallon, up about 1.5 cents from the prior day’s $3.661 average. Diesel averaged $4.420 per gallon, about 1.2 cents higher than the prior day’s $4.408 average.
Both fuels remain below last week’s averages
The daily increases do not yet amount to a sustained upward trend. Compared with the previous week, regular gasoline was about 8.3 cents below the $3.759 average, while diesel was about 13 cents below its prior-week average of $4.550.
That distinction matters for drivers watching prices from one day to the next. The latest check showed a small daily increase for both fuels, while the broader weekly comparison remained lower in the Lincoln metro.
Official Nebraska data provides a broader benchmark
Nebraska’s Department of Water, Energy and Environment updated its weekly motor-fuel information on July 24. The state report includes Lincoln-specific gasoline and diesel data and provides a government benchmark alongside the more recent metro price snapshot.
The state’s Lincoln tables also show that current 2026 prices were materially above comparable 2025 reporting-period levels. That year-over-year comparison is broader context, not a forecast, and does not explain the slight one-day movement recorded on July 29.
What Lincoln drivers and businesses should watch
For commuters and households, a change of several cents per gallon can affect the cost of larger fill-ups and frequent trips. Contractors, delivery drivers, farmers and other diesel users have a larger per-gallon exposure, so diesel’s roughly 13-cent weekly decline is more significant than its modest daily increase.
Fuel costs can also affect local service vehicles, restaurant deliveries, freight routes and weekend travel budgets. Those effects will vary by business and vehicle use, and the metro average should not be mistaken for the price at every station.
