1) New Texas Health hospital: 60 beds to start, room to grow

Texas Health Resources has outlined plans for a new, seven-story hospital campus in north McKinney near U.S. 75 and Laud Howell Parkway. The facility is slated to open in 2028 with 60 beds, with capacity to expand to 119 as demand grows.

Plans described include core hospital services such as an emergency department, surgical space, and labor-and-delivery care, positioning the site to serve the rapid growth north of McKinney and nearby communities.

2) Kroger Marketplace breaks ground Feb. 27

A new Kroger Marketplace is set for a ceremonial groundbreaking at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at the southeast corner of North Custer Road and Frontier Parkway. The store is expected to open in early 2027, adding another large-format grocery option as new housing and retail continue to build out along the corridor.

3) McKinney Fire Department to recognize cardiac arrest survivors Feb. 25

The McKinney Fire Department says it will host a Phoenix Cardiac Arrest Survivor Recognition Event at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Fire Department Headquarters on Taylor Burk Drive. The ceremony is intended to recognize survivors and the chain of people who helped save them, including bystanders, dispatchers, and first responders.

The event also spotlights the city’s Neighborhood Heroes effort, which aims to strengthen CPR and AED readiness across neighborhoods.
