Deputy-Involved Shooting at Moreno Valley House Fire

Moreno Valley, CA — January 31, 2026 — A deputy-involved shooting at a house fire in Moreno Valley has resulted in the death of a man. Authorities responded to reports of a residential fire in the 16000 block of Heather Glen Road on December 14, 2025. Upon arrival, deputies found the house fully engulfed in flames and encountered an individual at the rear of the property. When the individual failed to comply with commands and pointed a firearm at the deputies, a deputy-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased. No deputies or other civilians were injured during the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are seeking information from the public.
