Arson Arrest in New Braunfels
On October 24, 2025, the New Braunfels Fire Marshal’s Office, in collaboration with the New Braunfels Police Department’s SWAT Team, arrested 36-year-old Gilbert Hernandez in connection with an arson investigation. Hernandez was charged with a second-degree felony after allegedly setting multiple plastic bags filled with clothes on fire outside a residence on West Bridge Street. No injuries or significant property damage were reported. Hernandez was booked into the Comal County Jail with a bond set at $25,000.
Car Accident Involving Local Resident
On January 9, 2026, a car accident occurred on F.M. 1044 south of New Braunfels, involving 31-year-old Alexxi Keefover. A preliminary report indicates that a 2024 Dodge Ram 2500, with its driver assistance system engaged, rear-ended Keefover’s 2025 Subaru Crosstrek. The impact caused the Subaru to collide with a trailer being towed by a 2013 Ford F-350. Keefover sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Dodge was cited for speeding. Authorities have not released additional information regarding the accident at this time.
