Palm Beach Gardens schedules August 6 hearing on CDBG plan

Palm Beach Gardens residents can comment through Thursday, August 6, on a proposed $260,125 Community Development Block Grant spending plan that would direct most of the money toward housing rehabilitation.

The city has scheduled a public hearing for about 6 p.m. August 6 during the City Council meeting in the City Hall Council Chambers at 10500 N. Military Trail. The council is scheduled to consider Resolution 21, 2026, concerning the city’s Program Year 2026-2027 Annual Action Plan application for federal U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development CDBG funding.

Housing rehabilitation would receive most of the proposed funds

According to the city’s public-comment notice, the proposed plan would allocate $208,077.60 for housing rehabilitation and $52,047.40 for administration, for a total of $260,125.

The draft plan identifies homeowner housing rehabilitation as including lateral sewer-line connections and special-assessment fees for units on Dania Drive. It describes the broader housing objective as supporting eligible low- and moderate-income households and preserving affordable housing.

The plan sets a goal of rehabilitating 10 existing homeowner housing units during the program year. Direct-benefit assistance would require applicants to meet income qualifications and other federal CDBG requirements.

Eligibility would not extend to every resident

The proposed housing program is described as available citywide, but that does not mean every Palm Beach Gardens resident would qualify. The plan says direct-benefit activities, including housing rehabilitation, would require income qualification. It identifies extremely low-, low- and moderate-income residents as the primary beneficiaries.

The plan also discusses assistance for households along Mary Circle and Dania Drive that were added to the service area of the Seacoast Utility Authority. That sewer-connection assistance is part of the proposed housing-rehabilitation work, not a general benefit for all city residents.

Final eligibility, application details and implementation would depend on City Council action, the approved plan and applicable program rules.

Comments are due by August 6

The city’s 30-day public-comment period began July 7 and ends August 6. Residents may submit comments to the Planning and Zoning Department at 10500 N. Military Trail, by phone at (561) 799-4243 or by email to oellison@pbgfl.gov.

The city notice says the public hearing will be held at or about 6 p.m. August 6 at the Municipal Complex at 10500 N. Military Trail. The city calendar lists the City Council meeting from 6 to 11:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

The action remains a proposal. The scheduled hearing and consideration of Resolution 21, 2026, are not final approval or a completed award of funds. Residents should watch for the council’s action and later city information about program implementation, applications and eligibility.
