Peoria, IL — January 30, 2026 — The Peoria Police Department has released its Year-to-Date Shooting report, highlighting a significant reduction in violent incidents over the past year.

Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria commented, “We’re seeing meaningful progress that hasn’t been realized in many years, but we’re not declaring victory. The department also reported recovering 365 weapons in 2025, with 59 of them being reported stolen. This reflects ongoing efforts to address gun violence in the community and enhance public safety.
