Odessa Permian beat Midland High 42-17 on Oct. 23, 2026, at Astound Broadband Stadium, clinching at least a share of District 2-6A. Permian improved to 9-0 overall and 3-0 in district play, preserving its perfect season through nine games.
Running back Cayden Taylor had 19 carries for 171 yards and three touchdowns. Those touchdowns accounted for 18 of Permian’s 42 points, about 43%. Midland finished with 62 passing yards, fell to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in district, and saw its four-game winning streak end.
Oct. 30 is not a shared bye week: Permian’s schedule lists no game that day and its next game, against San Angelo Central, on Nov. 6. Midland ISD lists Midland at San Angelo Central on Oct. 30. The dates put seven days between Midland’s listed games and 14 days between Permian’s, so Midland is scheduled to play a week before Permian returns.
