SCV BandCast unveils a 2026 Battle of the Bands at Route 66
A Santa Clarita music group says it’s building a bigger pipeline for local, original acts with a semiannual tournament planned for mid-summer and December 2026. The format is designed around original music (not cover sets), with finalists performing on outdoor stages at Route 66 and results shaped by judges and public voting. Organizers also outlined spring pre-registration dates and sponsorship opportunities tied to the series.
Free tire collection event scheduled for March 28
The City of Santa Clarita and LA County Public Works are planning a free, drive-up tire drop-off at the Santa Clarita Metrolink Station parking lot on Soledad Canyon Road, running 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Most tires and rims are expected to be accepted, with oversized tractor-type tires excluded. If you’re bringing a larger load (10 or more tires), the city says you’ll need to request a transport form ahead of time. Businesses are not expected to be accepted at the drop-off.
Tip-A-Cop fundraiser returns March 3 in Valencia
Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and Special Olympics athletes are set to team up as servers for an evening at Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar at the Valencia mall. Tips collected during the event are slated to benefit Special Olympics Southern California, turning a regular dinner out into a simple way to support local athletes.
TMU men’s volleyball stays unbeaten with a road sweep
The Master’s University men’s volleyball team notched a straight-sets road win over Vanguard in Costa Mesa, with the Mustangs described as undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the NAIA. The match marked the team’s return after a short break, and the write-up highlighted strong hitting efficiency and a late push in the third set before TMU closed it out.
